Pilot tests in educational centers

The pilot tests were carried out in the academic year 2025 – 2026, from March 1 to May 28, 2026 in 15 schools in 5 countries: Spain, Greece, France, Portugal and Poland.

A total of 236 people participated in these tests: 127 primary and secondary school students and 109 teachers from the following schools.

The pilot tests allowed the creation of the Techlab technological laboratories by putting into practice the METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE (R1) and the KIT FOR THE CREATION OF TECHLABS (R5).

On the one hand, teachers received face-to-face and virtual training (R4. TRAINING ON TECHNOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT) by technicians from Ikasia Technologies and expert doctors and doctoral students from the Universitat Politècnica de València, which allowed them to be trained in the use of cutting-edge technological equipment that they used in the Techlabs.

They also implemented the VIRTUAL COURSE (R3) hosted on the Virtual Inclusive Education e-learning platform (created by Redtree and Smallcodes in an Erasmus Plus project in 2017). This course allowed them to acquire the necessary knowledge to apply the activities of the TRAINING ITINERARIES (R2) FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION in the classroom and to promote the motivation of students for STEM.

Results piloting with students

To evaluate the relevance, usefulness, satisfaction and feasibility of the TechLab methodological strategy, two evaluation methods were used. On the one hand, primary and secondary school teachers completed satisfaction surveys aimed at assessing the implementation of the methodology, the resources developed and its applicability in the educational context.

On the other hand, a specific evaluation of motivation was carried out with secondary school students, with the aim of analyzing the impact of the Techlab methodological strategy on their involvement and motivation towards STEM learning.

Primary school students did not participate in the surveys or in the motivation assessment, due to the limitations associated with the age of the participants. The evaluation of the experience of this group was obtained indirectly through the observations and feedback provided by the monitors and teachers.

Techlab 3D printing laboratories enable secondary schools to develop an active teaching approach that combines the creativity of teachers and students with the teaching of fundamental concepts in STEM subjects. The response from students who have taken part in the pilot tests has been enthusiastic. Evidence suggests that this type of activity has a positive impact on pupils’ motivation towards their studies in general and towards technology in particular.

On the other hand, in the technology sector, the pilot tests were carried out from March 1 to May 28, 2026 in 8 technology companies from 3 countries: Spain, Portugal and Italy.

These tests involved 21 technicians.

The participating technicians implemented the TRAINING PROGRAM FOR RESEARCH EXPERTS FOR TEACHING (R6), a virtual training course that allowed them to be trained in the teaching field, preparing them to provide training in the educational field.

Thanks to this, the researchers and technicians gave the virtual and face-to-face TRAININGS ON TECHNOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT (R4) for primary and secondary schools.

On the other hand, Ikasia Technologies implemented the TRAINING ITINERARIES (R2) FOR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES in the educational centers of the Valencian Community during non-school hours.
